Sergio and Lucia Caixeta are 3rd generation of coffee growers in Machado. At Sitio Matuto they grow Yellow and Red Catuai. After decades of selling their precious coffee to the regular market, they’ve decided to join Legender Specialty Coffee Program, where a premium is added to the price based on quality. This program provided the incentive for them to try new drying methods, selective picking, and other ways of quality improvement. “We were happy with the quality. Always hearing good things about it, but we didn’t know the real potential of our coffee. So what was good, became even better and showed us that we do have room to improve lots more”, says Mrs. Ana Caixeta.
